My Story
If you are reading my page, you’ll probable relate to my story. I have struggled with being overweight for as long as I can remember. I was bigger than the rest of my classmates, always getting picked last for team sports in school, and just feeling different. Furthermore, I accepted that this was just my path in life and I would always struggle with weight. I tried many diets that worked in the short term, but were never sustainable, and often times I’d give in to emotional eating and gain back more than I lost. Let’s face it, yo-yo dieting is real, and it is bad!
It wasn’t until after I was married and gave birth to two beautiful children that I decided to make getting healthy a personal commitment to myself and my family. However, as life’s circumstances would have it, I experienced only temporary success yet again.
Then one August night in 2010 my world as I knew it came crashing down on me. In a tragic car accident, I lost my beautiful 19-month old daughter and sunk into the deepest depression and level of grief imaginable. Depression was something that I had dealt with off and on for years, but words can’t describe the depth of pain caused by the loss of your own child, especially when you were the driver of the vehicle.
Giving up on life, continuing to spiral into depression and using food as a coping mechanism was second nature to me from that point on for a few years. Digging out of this level of despair wasn’t something that I could do on my own, so I decided to look for help. I am eternally grateful for the wisdom and support of Dr. Peggy Mayfield and my spouse. Together they started me on the path to healing myself and leaning on the only one who could put my life back together again….God. It wasn’t an easy road to walk because at the time I was so angry at myself, and at God, for allowing the accident to happen. It is only through God’s grace and comfort that I was able to begin to pick up the pieces of my shattered life.
If you have ever found yourself at a cross-road in your life; reassessing your health, weight, using emotional eating as a coping mechanism, or stressed and wondering what the next chapter of your life is supposed to look like, don’t worry; you are exactly where you are meant to be, but it is time to look for help as I did back then. I can help you navigate the right path forward.
It was through my own transformational journey that I found a level of strength, confidence, peace and serenity that I never thought possible. Through clean eating, dedication to moving my body in exercise, learning and growing by developing a healthy mindset, I released 40 pounds and 38 inches in 9-months, and have sustained my healthy lifestyle. But even more important than the numbers on the scale is how I feel about myself on the inside. Today, I am the healthiest I have ever been in my adult years! I’ve released limiting beliefs that held me back, made perspective shifts and found healing through forgiving myself, and self-love. These non-scalable victories have impacted my health and my life on a deeper level than the loss of the weight I was carrying around for years!
The good news is that I am you, and you are me! A total transformation of your health and lifestyle goals is not only possible, but achievable!
